Jane Q. Scholar is an Assistant Professor of English at Lehman College. Her research focuses on Southern Gothic writers and their fixation with poverty, alienation, crime, and violence. She received her MA from University of Buffalo in Comparative Literature and her Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center.
Scholar has taught Eng. 200: “Introduction to Southern American Fiction” and Eng. 300: “Madness, Decay, and Loneliness: Faulkner, O’Conner, and McCullers.” She is interested in getting students to react to texts, and encourages sharing ideas online with their peers. She is a member of the Writing Across the Curriculum committee and helped design assignments to improve student writing.
Prior to joining Lehman, she was an Assistant Professor at Pace University and an instructor at Westchester Community College.
